THE IMPOSTER #poetry by jay

Suddenly

he appears

slipping

slithering

into the room

nobody knows

he is here

playing

make-believing

as if he is real

calm and cunning

he creates

tricking all

within his reach

even he negates

that sickening feeling

much too late.

Maybe you’ve seen him

once or twice

acting out

in spite of life

the imposter is real

in his mind

hiding out behind

behind

this melting facade

called mine.
