Why should we assimilate?

Congregate. Gesticulate. Articulate.

I’m an open slate.  My people don’t hate.

Why should you decide?

We abide, your rules

Open our book, take a look

If you don’t like our story-

Turn away

That is our glory.

Why should we assimilate?

Creating lies

Twisting inside

To build your glory, adding fuel to our fury

All locked up inside

your one-dimensional story

Why follow someone else’s dreams, truths?

Assimilate to hate-

each other?

My people were fine, ‘til you came and messed

up their mind!

Why do you think we need you?

We don’t need you to screw our teeth shut

Smothering our truth with your rebut

We will cut, Cut, CUT!

Releasing your grip of iron tooth

From our peoples songs

of historic truth.

  1. Powerfully written, Jay. Oh yes! And I agree with Tara about that line: Creating lies /
Twisting inside / To build your glory, adding fuel to our fury / All locked up inside / your one-dimensional story” That is excellent!
