Mangroves and Sludge #Poetry

The door shuts to the sounds

of buzzing motors, annoyed

he frets and violently shoves

the trash to the ground

Clouds hold heavy

the wet, the humid, the gray

sopped up blankets

waiting to break

Shifts in the sandy soil

dotted, speckled in motor

oil, he frowns about

the days ahead, to drown

This shit is real

as light is vacuumed

into the underground

seal, flecked with gold

Grates continue to hold

as gators mount and wail

beneath mangroves and sludge

fornicating in the deep saline mud.
