Because I Believed

I believed

the moments

were about me,

today I see they

were always

about you

Did you know?

You loved me

to satisfy

your need to

be somebody

who loved,

when it was

convenient

to love?

I believed

in my innocence,

you loved me

even when I knew

I was unsure,

I was insecure

I relied on you

to show me through

the darkest of darks

and the lightest of lights

no matter what,

Because, I thought you

knew better.

I didn’t know

that I didn’t know,

that you didn’t know,

how to love unconditionally.
